We treat patients like family. We are technology driven to reduce the cost of healthcare. We focus on communicating with patients outside the clinic to avoid a visit to the office. Our center name is Endocrine and Psychiatry Clinic. It was founded 13 years ago by Dr. Patel, an endocrinologist. We have two locations, one in northwest Houston and the other in Katy.
Our endocrinologists are Dr. Rakesh Patel, Dr. Veena Watwe, Dr. Preeya Raghu, Dr. Vivienne Policarpio, Dr. Sindhura Gogineni, Dr. Samanah Dowlatshahi, and Dr. Noor Yazdanie. Our practice also includes Shannon Gregorek, APN, Sanket Shah, PA, Nadia Younus, PA, Sonja Long-Lambie, RD, and Radha Bernander, PA-C. As endocrinologists, we work with our patients to solve their hormone issues and better their sugars and thyroids. We want our patients to feel better.

What is Endocrinology and Why See an Endocrinologist?
Plain and simple, endocrinology is a medical specialty that is concerned with internal or hormonal secretions and their reactions. Endocrinology covers metabolism, respirations, reproductions, sensory perception, and movement. Endocrinologists help people with hormone issues.
The following diseases or disorders are commonly treated by endocrinologists: high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, osteoporosis, cholesterol problems, menopause, metabolic disorders, thyroid diseases, excessive or insufficient production of hormones, some cancers, short stature, and infertility.
Three broad groups of endocrine disorders: 1) Endocrine gland hyposecretion – your glands do not produce enough hormones 2) Endocrine gland hypersecretion – your glands produce too many hormones 3) Tumors of endocrine glands – these tumors may be cancerous or non-cancerous
Endocrinologists are specialists who manage diabetes, thyroid, hypertension, cholesterol, osteoporosis, testosterone, estrogen, and all other hormones. Most people that come in to see an endocrinologist have high blood sugars are gaining weight or feel tired. Another reason to see an endocrinologist is to prevent heart disease.
On Site Lab & Clinical Research
Both locations have EPC Lab on site. Our Huffmeister lab is open Monday through Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, Saturday from 8 – 11:00 am and closed for lunch from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. Our Katy location lab is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am – 3:30 pm and closed for lunch from 11:45 am – 1:00 pm.
The Huffmeister location participates in clinical research to help usher in new advancements in diabetes treatment. We have a dedicated research coordinator, Michelle Covey, who provides excellent care to all our research participants. Some people may feel hesitant in participating in research trials, but the fact is that they are safe and all participants are closely monitored. Participants receive free doctor visits, tests, and medication which can be a huge cost saver for many people.
Endocrine and Psychiatry Center prides itself on being a ‘one stop shop’ for your endocrine needs. Our clinics are staffed with experienced and trained professionals who will take care of your medical needs. Both clinics house labs, so the patient does not have to go to another site to have tests done. This saves the patient time and money. We also provide DEXA, retina scans, ultrasounds, and CGMS machines. Also, we do IMT testing. All these tools help us fully diagnose the patient and follow through with the proper treatment.
Patient education can make all the difference in the progress patients make in their treatment. EPC offers classes led by trained nutritionists and dietitians to provide individuals with the proper tools to live a healthier lifestyle and get better results from their treatment. We offer classes in group settings, or you can set a one on one appointment, whichever makes you feel more comfortable.
Aside from actual medical procedures and education, we pride ourselves on our technological advances that other doctors cannot offer. Our patient portal gives patients the option to see all their medical records and history from the comfort of their own home.
Looking into the future, EPC is working towards closing the gap between medicine and technology. As Dr. Patel likes to say, “Health care has always been 10 years behind the world” and EPC is working towards bringing health care up to speed. We are currently working on new patient education tools and various other technological based components that will save patients money and create convenience.
